Countertenor
Darius Latham-Koenig is a British freelance countertenor, singing regularly in the choirs of St. Paul's Cathedral, St Clement Danes (RAF), Chelsea Old Church, and HM Chapel Royal Hampton Court, amongst others, as well as in prestigious vocal ensembles such as the Gabrieli Consort and La Nuova Musica.
Darius started singing aged 7 as a treble member of the Westminster Boys' Choir; highlights included Berlioz's L'Enfance du Christ at Cadogan Hall with the English Chamber Orchestra, and Orff's Carmina Burana at the Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano, in addition to international tours in America and China. After developing his voice at Westminster School, Darius was awarded a Choral Scholarship with Christ Church Cathedral Choir, Oxford in 2016 whilst reading for a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Since 2019, Darius has combined further academic study in International Relations and Law respectively with a busy freelance singing schedule. He studies with David Clegg.
His highlights as a step-out soloist include various projects with Christ Church Cathedral Choir, as well as Bach's Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Sagen with St James' Baroque, directed by James O'Donnell. Oratorio appearances have included Purcell's Dido and Aeneas at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall with David Bates and La Nuova Music, Handel's Messiah at KKL Lucerne, Tonhalle Zurich, and Theater an der Wien with Paul McCreesh and the Gabrieli Consort, Handel's Messiah at St. George's Hanover Square with Adrian Butterfield and the London Handel Orchestra, Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem with Stephen Layton and the Holst Singers, Goodall's Invictus: A Passion at West Green House Opera with Howard Ionascu, Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb at Royal Opera House Oman with Christ Church and the Novaya Opera Orchestra, directed by Jan Latham-Koenig, Handel's The Choice of Hercules and Dettingen Te Deum at the Gottingen International Handel Festival with Christ Church and FestspielOrchester Gottingen, directed by Laurence Cummings, and Henze's Moralities with Christ Church, directed by Prof. Stephen Darlington.
Darius has begun to develop a varied discography, featuring Bach's Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Sagen with the Westminster School Chamber Choir (2015), The Eton Choirbook Vol. V: The Gate of Glory with Darlington and Christ Church (2017), the world premiere recording of Goodall's Invictus: A Passion with Darlington and Christ Church (2018), and a live recording of Handel's The Choice of Hercules and Dettingen Te Deum with Cummings and Christ Church.
In 2022, Darius was made a Fellow of the Royal Schools of Music for piano performance.

Darius writes on a variety of subjects, encompassing arts criticism, current affairs, and general political opinion pieces. His range of output is partly due to his diverse though interrelated academic interests in politics, international relations, and law, alongside his professional music career.
After serving as an assistant editor to The Elizabethan at Westminster School and founding its first ever music magazine The Pink Note, Darius was a freelance contributor to The Oxford Student whilst at Oxford. After completing a MSc distinction-level dissertation titled "Norm Contestation and the Practice Turn: The Responsibility to Protect in light of Kosovo and Libya", Darius is a freelance staff writer for The International Scholar, a next-generation international affairs journal, with a number of articles on energy politics and international law forthcoming.

In late 2022, Darius launched his new project 'Ashley' , featuring a fortnightly column and associated musings.
